Dr. Chris Venter is a fertility specialist in private practice in Sandton, Gauteng. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Pretoria in 1994 and 2002, respectively. He then undertook a preceptorship in Endoscopic Surgery at Leuven University in Belgium under the mentorship of Prof. Phillippe Koninckx.
After 12 years as a general obstetrician in private practice, his passion for reproductive health led him to subspecialize in Reproductive Medicine. He completed his fellowship training at the University of Stellenbosch under Prof. Thinus Kruger and Prof. Thabo Matsaseng. His research focused on the vital role of pre-genetic screening in embryo selection.
Since joining Vitalab Reproductive Centre in 2013, Dr. Venter has specialized in all aspects of infertility care. He has a particular clinical interest in recurrent implantation failure and the crucial role of endometrial receptivity. In addition to his clinical practice, he served as an Associate Lecturer at the University of the Free State and was a member of the SASREG executive board for more than a decade.
Dr. Venter is also a passionate advocate for raising awareness of oncofertility in South Africa, offering hope and fertility preservation options to cancer patients undergoing gonadotoxic treatments.
