This half-day workshop is designed to introduce gynaecologists to the rapidly evolving field of robotic-assisted surgery, with a focus on the da Vinci Surgical System. Combining expert-led discussions with practical demonstrations, the workshop will demystify how robotic systems work and explore their role in modern gynaecological practice.
Participants will gain insights into when robotic surgery offers advantages over conventional laparoscopy, with applications in urogynaecology, oncology, benign surgery and endometriosis. The programme also addresses key considerations such as training pathways, the learning curve, and the realities of cost and medical aid coverage in the local context.
A highlight of the workshop is the opportunity to engage with a robotic surgery simulator, allowing attendees to experience the technology firsthand in a guided setting.
Ideal for both consultants and trainees, this workshop provides a balanced, clinically relevant introduction for those considering incorporating robotics into their surgical practice.
